First of all, why and when would you need an oxygen system in your aircraft? Sure, an oxygen system is not an inexpensive accessory, however, it can and will be necessary equipment for your safety. Every trip above 10000 ft (3000m) can put you in harm's way if you are not well equipped. Having an oxygen system saves you from suffering from hypoxia and allows you to climb up to 25000 ft without worry.
A well-oxygenated body is more efficient at maintaining its core temperature, you will avoid sleepy moments, feel fresh and concentrated throughout your entire flight.
At A4Aviation we have many oxygen kits to choose from. When looking for the kit that suits your needs, a few questions will come to mind:
- 1. For how many people do you need oxygen?
- 2. What cylinder do you need?
a) how much space you have in your aircraft
b) how long do you expect to fly above 10000 ft
Our recommendation is the AL415, it has a manageable size and has an oxygen capacity of more than 12 hours at 15000 ft!
For more information on size and oxygen capacity for the cylinders, please see the chart below :
- 3. What type of regulator do you need?
At A4Aviation we decided to sell the kits with the CGA-540 regulator, as they were the most requested. The oxygen bottles are equipped with gauges, so you can always keep an eye on the oxygen levels and know when it's time to refill the cylinder. If you want to have the option to refill your cylinder at a recharging station that requires a DIN-477 regulator, we have the TA-540K-DIN adapter, which will give you more options. This handy device has a CGA-540 nipple, and a DIN-477-9 socket, as you see in the image below.
If it’s not your first time using oxygen gear, you will know that it sometimes can be challenging to find an appropriate place to refill at a good price..If it is the first time for you to use or refill your equipment, please feel free to contact us. We are happy to advise you on how to find your refilling station
